Zinuo Color Masterbatch Manufacturer in China

Functional Additive Masterbatch

Desiccant Masterbatch

Desiccant masterbatch is a functional additive designed to eliminate moisture in real time during extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, and film production. It consists of a highly active desiccant agent  calcium oxide dispersed in a carrier resin compatible with your base polymer.

Typical Applications & Scenarios for Talc Filler Masterbatch in Plastics

Zinuo Solution
Silver streaks, tiger stripes, bubbles, voids, micropores, fish eyes, rough surfaces, and surface pitting in finished products (e.g., blown film, injection-molded parts, raffia tape). These defects lead to high scrap rates, failed inspections, and customer complaints.
The masterbatch’s active ingredients CaO chemically bind water molecules inside the molten plastic. It eliminates both surface and internal moisture before it can form steam, completely preventing these defects. The uniform dispersion (via carrier resin and dispersants) ensures no white spots or agglomeration, keeping product surfaces smooth, glossy, and defect-free. Scrap rates are reduced by 80–95% in most cases, ensuring products pass inspections and reducing customer complaints.
Pre-drying plastic raw materials (using hopper dryers, dehumidifying dryers, or hot air dryers) consumes large amounts of electricity, takes 2–8 hours per batch, requires dedicated labor to monitor, and incurs high equipment purchase, maintenance, and repair costs. This increases production costs and extends lead times.
Our desiccant masterbatch eliminates the need for pre-drying (or reduces drying time by 70–90%) by absorbing moisture directly during the plastic processing cycle. No additional drying equipment is required, saving electricity costs by 30–50% and labor costs associated with monitoring dryers. It also shortens production cycles by 2–8 hours per batch, improving overall production efficiency and reducing equipment maintenance expenses.
Recycled plastics, regrind materials, and plastic flakes often have unstable moisture content (due to exposure to rain, humidity, or improper storage), leading to inconsistent processing, frequent machine adjustments, and high rejection rates. Many manufacturers avoid using these cost-effective materials due to these issues.
The masterbatch’s strong moisture absorption capacity (adapting to moisture content of 0.1–5% in raw materials) stabilizes processing of recycled/regrind materials. It can be adjusted in dosage (1–4% by weight) based on the actual moisture content of each batch, ensuring consistent moisture removal regardless of raw material variability. This allows manufacturers to use recycled materials safely, reducing raw material costs by 15–30% and lowering rejection rates to below 5%.Parts that must resist softening, melting, or deformation at elevated temperatures
Traditional physical drying (hot air, dehumidifying dryers) only removes surface moisture, leaving deep trapped moisture inside the resin particles. This hidden moisture causes internal defects (e.g., internal voids, weak weld lines) that are not visible during production but lead to product failure in use (e.g., brittleness, cracking).
Unlike physical drying, our desiccant masterbatch melts together with the plastic resin during processing, allowing its active ingredients to penetrate the molten plastic and chemically bind deep trapped moisture molecules. This ensures complete moisture removal (both surface and internal), eliminating hidden internal defects and improving the mechanical strength (tensile strength, impact resistance) of finished products by 10–20%.
Moisture in plastic resin causes hydrolysis (breakdown of polymer chains) during high-temperature processing, leading to weakened mechanical properties (brittleness, reduced toughness, poor weld lines) and shortened product service life. This is especially problematic for products used in structural or load-bearing applications.
By completely removing moisture from the molten plastic, our masterbatch prevents hydrolysis and polymer degradation. It preserves the integrity of polymer chains, maintaining the resin’s original mechanical properties (tensile strength, impact resistance, flexural strength) and extending the service life of finished products by 20–30%.
In humid regions or seasons (e.g., rainy seasons, coastal areas), plastic raw materials absorb moisture quickly during storage, making processing unstable even with pre-drying. This leads to inconsistent product quality and frequent machine jams.
Our masterbatch works effectively in high-humidity environments (relative humidity up to 90%) by absorbing moisture both from the raw materials and the surrounding air during processing. It provides real-time moisture protection, ensuring stable processing and consistent product quality regardless of ambient humidity. No additional humidity control measures are needed in the workshop.
